Well…………what a whirlwind we have had here at Steel Wool since our last blog.
We have premises!
I honestly thought that having my own premises was still going to be years away, however, an opportunity came along at just the right time to join other businesses at Glebe Farm Tea Farms, Cabin 4, Junction 7, Kettering, Northants, NN16 8XF.

It is an honour to be among such pleasant people, who have given me such support and warm welcome. It also helps that they do amazing food and the views are to die for.
Day One
We got the keys on Friday 1st August and took us all day to put the wire cages, desk and start stocking the shelves. It was hard work and took about 3 hours longer to be the cages together than I thought it would………….and lots of bashed fingers and moaning.
This was the end of day one though so went home happy.

Day Two
I was so tired but knew another long day was ahead of us. Even though most of the packing of the wool had been done at home, I ran out of bags and car space so more trips back and forth but the result at the end of day two was making me feel much happier, plus a very nice lady stopped to say hello, who when she realised who I was, said “Oh my God, I follow you on facebook!”
End of the day two, and it’s starting to look like a shop!

Day Three
Now to sort out a bit of storage for myself………..therefore, lets put together 4 packs of drawers and a bookshelf! Wasn’t too bad and I felt much better being able to put excess wool that I could fit in the cubes in a something other than a bag. Things were coming together nicely and starting to feel like my comfy place now.
End of day 3 and open to the public!

We still have a way to go, and will be expanding our stock (now I have even more space to fill) the problem is, there is so much choice and things out there that I have to have, how do I choose?
We will be open on Saturdays 10 -4 and Sundays 10-3, closed on a Monday and Tuesday to Fridays will vary according to Chris’s shifts (mainly 10-2).
In the shop we will be selling yarns, accessories, patterns (both King Cole and my own), kits of my designs or the finished items for people who can’t knit or crochet or haven’t got time to get everything finished.
Please pop by and say hello if you are in the area as we would love to see you.
